Top Ten Las Vegas Hotels for Cheapskates

If you clicked on this article then you they type who has come (or planning to go) to Vegas to act like a fool, meet some people of the opposite gender with questionable morals and sleep as little as possible. You don't care for turn down service, chocolates on your pillow or en suite walk in closets.

What you do want is a cheap place that will help keep your wallet full for the $150 bottle service, has few blue light discoverable stains and is close to all the action.

If you're in town for a 21st birthday, coming for a college spring break or are just a cheapskate then the following hotels are where you can pass out for a few hours before returning to living Las Vegas' cliche, yet Official Motto.

These hotels are cheap (averaging under $75 a night), on (or near) the Las Vegas Strip and all have sports books, relatively cheap eats and gambling floors. All the comforts a cheapskate needs.

1) The Monte Carlo

The Monte Carlo is located in the smack dab middle of Las Vegas Boulevard (see map) making it one of the most convenient hotels for first time and frequent visitors alike.  It may no longer be a "hot" hotel like Aria or the Bellagio, but its price point, location and amenities make it a great hotel for those who won't be doing much but sleeping anyway. 2) The Hard Rock Hotel

To put in mildly the Hard Rock Hotel is one of the best places in Las Vegas. It's rooms are not as fancy as the Bellagio, it's food isn't as delectable at the Palazzo and it's clientele would make visitors to Nobu hide in their rooms. And that is what makes the Hard Rock so amazing. It clocks in at #2 only because its off Strip location is slightly less convenient that the  Monte Carlo. READ MORE.



3)The Palms

The Palms is the perfect place to act like a local in Las Vegas. This barely off strip casino and hotel (see map) is a favorite of Las Vegas residents and is the place to see and be seen in Sin City. Hard Rock Hotel may have the hype and CityCenter the clout, but the Palms is a longtime go to hotel. It is home to one of the best concert venues in town (The Pearl) and a main thoroughfare that is as much social gathering as gaming floor. READ MORE.


4)The MGM Grand

The MGM Grand's south central location (see map) and lower price range make it a heck of a place to make home base. You get a fitness center, a free newspaper and easy access to all the MGM has to offer. Cirque du Soleil's KA is a must see, the Brad Garrett Comedy Club features national comics and according to a recent story David Copperfield has been seen by more people than any performer ever. 5)The Flamingo

For those fascinated with the Mob History of Las Vegas and who want a sweet deal on top of it, The Flamingo is the place to stay. While Bugsy is long gone, Jimmy (as in Buffett) has helped the Flamingo retain its appeal. Sure the rooms aren't all that modern, but they are clean and convenient. Isn't that all you really need? 6)RIO
Located across the street from The Palms, Rio is another off Strip (see map) locals fave. It is also the host of the WSOP, that's the World Series of Poker for you noobs. It was Las Vegas' first all suite hotel, which makes its affordable cost astounding. These rooms are much bigger (if slightly dated) than your average hotel room, so you can feel like a prince even if you're a pauper. READ MORE.




7)The Luxor

 It may come as a surprise to many, but one of the most visually stunning hotels on the Las Vegas Strip is also one of the best bargains. The Luxor pyramid features odd shaped rooms overlooking a central concourse that would wow any pharaoh,  especially as they lay their weary head to take a quick snooze before partying hardy once again. 8)Excalibur

 If your favorite movie scene was the Medieval Times scene in Cable Guy then Excalibur is for you. This low price Las Vegas staple looks to me made from giant Playskool blocks and features corny entertainment one would expect to see in Orlando (Tournament of Kings anyone). 9)Bally's

Bally's may be old, but it center Strip location (see map) and proximity to Paris, the Bellagio, the Flamingo and Caesar's Palace make it a cheapskates option right in the thick of Vegas' hottest zone. Bally's is tacky chic, has an outdated sports book and hosts Jubilee, arguably the last of the great Las Vegas burlesque shows.

 The Stratosphere tower remains the tallest building in Las Vegas and the 9th tallest structure in the United States. It looms over the desert and has vecome nearly as recognized a symbol of Las Vegas as the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Did you know it is also a hotel. No, really.
